Step into the world of eyelash extensions as I uncover the latest trends on the market. From dramatic voluminous looks to more natural spikey looks, the evolution of lash aesthetics is always changing. Whether you are interested in getting lash extensions or just a beauty enthusiast trying to stay ahead of the curve, join me as I talk about the captivating trends dominating the lash industry in 2024.
"The Soft Girl Era"
2024 is the year for going more natural. When I get on social media, all I see is posts plastered with "In my soft girl era" or "less is more" when it comes to beauty and fashion. I see more and more people ditching dramatic makeup looks (which are still beautiful) and opting for lighter makeup looks that enhance their natural beauty. In the lash industry, there's no difference. Women are trading in their fluffy volume sets for wispy natural looking sets. Here's what they are going for:
"Angel Sets"
"The Angel Set" is a style of lash extensions that is textured and full, but still wispy and natural looking. I see it all over my social media and it is one of my services that gets booked the most. It is created using .03 diameter lash extensions, so it is super lightweight and comfortable on the eyes. The set is acheived by utilizing two different curl types and two layers of length, giving perfect texture and wispiness. I see clients with this look describing it as "My Lashes, But Better". Just like any other style of lash extensions, the length and shape of the set is completely customizeable, allowing your lash artist to tailor the set to your unique eye and face shape, and your personal preference. This set mocks a classic set, but it's a little fuller and typically lasts longer due to the lighter weight of the extensions and their better ability to wrap onto the natural lash.
This trend in the lash industry from more dramatic sets to more natural sets actually caused some of my clients to switch from volume sets to angel sets. Let's take a look at one of those clients and her transition.
This is my client Liv wearing "The Volume Set". We had been doing this set for months and she absolutely loved it.
One day, she asked me if there was a way to make her lashes look longer, but more natural at the same time. I didn't want to go for a classic set, as that was a little less full than what she was going for. Instead, I opted for "The Angel Set".
This is Liv wearing "The Angel Set". As you can see, it's still full and gives her a dark lash line, but it looks more natural due to it's wispy and layered nature. We also achieved the extra length that she was looking for. We absolutely love her new lash look and she has been getting "The Angel Set" ever since!
"Brown Lashes"
Another huge trend in the lash industry is the shift from black lashes to brown lashes. Staying consistent with the trend of opting for more natural looks, brown lashes do just that. Brown lashes are great because they are still dark enough to make a difference, but light enough to not look unnatural. They're great for those with blonde hair, red hair/ red tones, and light brown hair. I find that they do a better job of enhancing one's features rather than take away or distract from one's natural beauty. Another reason why I love brown lashes is because they can be dressed up or down. No matter what set/style of lashes you get in brown, you can make them look more natural or more glam. For instance, if you are going for the more natural everyday look, you can just wake up and go. You don't have to worry about putting on makeup because your lashes will look natural and beautiful from the moment you wake up. At the same time, if you have an event that you want to dress up for and have a glam moment, you can do your regular makeup routine and your lashes will blend in beautifully.
Personally, I have just as many clients getting brown lashes now as I do clients getting black lashes. Let's take a look at one of my clients that went for brown lashes and our reasoning behind it.
This is my client Lily. She came to me wanting a natural looking set. I knew right away that we were going to do "The Angel Set", but we hadn't really considered the color. Since Lily has a lighter skin tone and hair color, along with a reddish tone in her hair, I knew that brown lashes would look great on her. Especially since she was wanting a more natural looking set, we went for brown lashes to enhance her features rather than going for black which would give more of a dramatic look. This is the before photo....
... and this is her after photo. In this picture, Lily is wearing "The Angel Set" in brown. As you can see, brown lashes are still noticeable, but not too harsh on lighter skin tones. She isn't wearing any makeup in this picture, and her lashes still look natural. Her natural beauty is enhanced without even having to pick up a makeup brush. If she wanted to wear a glam look, she could do so without her lashes looking too natural, as brown lashes can be dressed up or down.
In this blog post, I touched on the hottest lash trends that I've seen in 2024. As clients are moving towards more natural lash looks, angel sets and brown lashes have taken the spotlight, and I'm definitely here for it.
